RAC Telematics in BusinessCar award win

RAC Business has won a BusinessCar Award 2016 for RAC Telematics - thanks to its fuel cost saving benefits and features such as driver behaviour scores and independently tested 92% crash detection accuracy.

The BusinessCar Awards were announced online at 9am today and provides important recognition of the development of RAC’s telematics solution and its technical innovation in the market place.

RAC Telematics saw exponential growth in 2015 with our black box units now installed in tens of thousands of business vehicles across the country, firmly establishing the product in the B2B/fleet space.

RAC Telematics customers range from SME fleets of less than 10, to large-scale fleets of thousands, and in addition RAC Telematics has been installed in all 1,450 RAC Patrol vehicles.

The benefits to the RAC fleet include: 15% reduction in fuel costs, 25% reduction in wear and tear and further significant reductions in downtime and insurance premiums as a result of improved driving behaviour.

RAC Telematics managing director Nick Walker said: “A lot of people are talking about 2016 as being ‘the year of telematics’, so it is great for us to start the year this way with a BusinessCar Award for RAC Telematics.

“The RAC is leading the way in telematics to help fleet and business customers to manage their vehicles more efficiently and effectively. Our solution, which is operational in tens of thousands of business customers’ vehicles, monitors driving behaviour, fuel efficiency and vehicle health helping to lower fuel costs, reduce wear and tear and this together with the most advanced and accurate accident alert capability.

“Our knowledge and expertise in this market is enabling us to develop telematics solutions for private motorists with technology serving both the young and new driver insurance market and now a sophisticated remote diagnostics capability which will revolutionise how we serve our individual members on the road. The size of a matchbox, with a built-in SIM card and plugging directly into the car’s diagnostic port, there are a host of possibilities to understand what is happening with a vehicle at any time and in any location.”
