RAC launches route planner widget to help drivers in 2010
In a move to make life easier for web-users planning road journeys, breakdown and insurance provider RAC have launched a brand new Route Planner widget for 2010.
The easy-to-use Route Planner widget can be used on any website, within any blog post, or anywhere else where the html code can be pasted. Once the widget is set up, any visiting web-user will then be presented with a map of the destination, as well as the option to input their own postcode to obtain an in-depth step-by-step route plan including distance and journey time.
The widget, which has been produced by RAC with the help of Multimap and Bing Maps technology, is free to use for everyone and can be incorporated efficiently into sites of any design due to its easy-to-modify size and shape.
Fiona Syder, Head of Online Marketing at RAC, commented: “The widget is quick, free and easy to set-up. It will no doubt be of great use to bloggers who are writing about events such as car shows where their users will be eager to see their route and journey in advance of travelling.”
“Webmasters for motoring businesses and services may also be interested in the tool as an addition to their contact page.”
